In March 2006 the European Commission announced the staged ‘NCTS sunsetting’ (as it terms the withdrawal) of central technical development and support, and the requirement for all National Administrations (NA) to undertake this activity in the future. This means that today the Commission no longer provides to NAs any new NCTS software applications, and those that have been supplied (e.g. MCC/ECN) will no longer have central support.
Given the very limited timescale, a decision has to be reached rapidly on which option the National Administrations should pursue to deliver the service post ‘sunset’/’sunrise’ and how their Business delivery will be managed pre and post that date.
